Jewish Voices in America with Dr. Beth Wenger

March 3 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST

Jews and American National Holidays
with Dr. Beth Wenger, Penn State University Moritz and Josephine Berg Professor of History
Whether Flag Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Thanksgiving, the American civic holidays have historically played a significant role in the development of the U.S. Jewish community. Historically sensitive to the charge of being labeled outsiders, Jews in the U.S. have often celebrated secular and civic American holidays with an eye toward demonstrating their loyalty and pride in their American citizenship.
Refreshments to follow.
This program is in partnership with the University of Alabama in Huntsville History Department.
